Please join us at the opening reception of the three female artists’ exhibit Visionary Hearts this coming Sunday, October 7th from 1 to 5 p.m. The exhibit will be on view from September 30th to November 1st. The exhibit features the most recent work of Barbara Mendes, Belen Islas and Dany Paragouteva. The three female artists explore their own colorful and imaginative view of the world through their personal and complementary painting styles.
Barbara Mendes’ paintings have been exhibited in numerous solo and other exhibits in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles since 1973. The City of Los Angeles also recognized Barbara’s art by designating the corner where her gallery is located as “Barbara Mendes Square.”
Barbara’s artwork has sought to portray the infinitely complex contents of a human mind, along with emotional and spiritual forces that compel so much of human life. Barbara believes art can and should influence the human condition in a positive way.
Belen’s work is influenced by her heritage, cultural enriched environment that is California and her feminine experiences as a mother and creator. She believes art has the power to influence minds, touch hearts and transform lives without words. She studied under Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, Lia Halloran and her art has been shown in the Centro cultural SHCP.
Hailing from Bulgaria, Dany Paragouteva’s work revolves around using her European heritage and soulful appreciation of the power of fairy tales to bring people into a fantastical world of the subtly surreal. Her aim with her art is to touch the viewer with a joyful emotional truth that not only makes us ask ourselves ‘why not?’ but brings out the dreamer in us that only the world of fantasy can inspire.
